Acne

One of the most common skin conditions, acne occurs when sebaceous glands become overactive and produce excess oil, causing follicles to become plugged. These plugged follicles can then become inflamed, causing pimples, nodules and cysts. Although active acne is not harmful to health and will usually subside over time, it can have a long-term, negative effect on a person’s confidence and self-esteem. Our practice offers various methods of preventing and reducing acne, including topical treatments such as lasers, Hydrafacial, and chemical peels.

Age Spots

Age spots are brownish patches that appear on the skin as a person ages, resulting from either sun damage or genetics. Also known as liver spots, these patches resemble large freckles and usually appear on the face, neck, hands, feet, or legs. Although they are not harmful, many people wish to have them removed for cosmetic reasons. Jeffrey A. Hunt D.O., R.V.S., R.V.P.I. can safely diminish these marks using Photofacial™, ResurFX®, or Fotona laser skin resurfacing treatments. Sun Damage

Sun damage is the single biggest contributor to facial aging. Long-term exposure to the sun can lead to uneven pigmentation, deep wrinkles, leathery skin, and even skin cancer. Any of these conditions can produce signs of premature aging on the skin, even on surprisingly young patients. There are a wide variety of advanced skin care treatments available for sun damage, ranging from prescription skin care to the latest skin resurfacing lasers (ResurFX®, Fotona Pixel, CoolPeel CO2) in combination with IPL® (intense pulsed light).

Wrinkles

Lines and wrinkles appear where skin naturally folds and creases, becoming more and more permanent as time goes on. A number of factors, including sun exposure, smoking, and extreme dieting, can hasten this effect. The Vein & Cosmetic Center of Tampa Bay can counter facial wrinkles with BOTOX® Cosmetic and the latest temporary, semi-permanent cosmetic fillers, as well as the CoolPeel CO2 laser.
