The professional application of Botox® Injections can offer relief from the pain and discomfort associated with an overactive or imbalanced temporomandibular joint, two common causes of TMJ Disorder. Stress and/or normal activities such as talking, eating, or yawning can often cause unwanted side effects for patients experiencing issues with the temporomandibular joint, including teeth grinding, jaw clicking or popping, and headaches. Typically the Masseter and/or Temporalis muscles are responsible; however, a thorough examination of the patient’s symptoms and anatomy can usually determine the cause.

WRINKLES BE GONE

How do Botox Injections work?

Botox injections offer a way to treat the source of the problem – the overactive muscles – rather than just mitigating the symptoms. By injecting the neurotoxin into specific locations around the jaw and head, the muscles are weakened, reducing the tendency to unconsciously clench and grind. Therapeutic masseter muscle Botox is 20-40 units per masseter to effectively treat symptoms. During the initial consultation, patients will receive a customized treatment plan that addresses their unique anatomical factors prior to injection. Only a professional Botox injector with extensive experience should perform Botox for TMJ treatment.

Botox patient review

I have suffered with TMJD (disorder of the TMJ) for about ten years. I've chewed through two night guards made by dentists, I've had my teeth realigned, and I was on my way to getting my gums grafted due to gum loss. I went to Kristen to try Botox in my masseters. She knew just how much to inject and was so encouraging and comforting. Since the first injection, my life has completely changed. I used to wake up with severe and debilitating headaches - almost every day. They are gone. Occasionally I'll wake up with a mild one but it is bearable and I can treat it with naproxen if I need to. Nothing even close to the severity or frequency of before. At night, I used to grind my teeth so hard that I would dream that my teeth were falling out. I haven't done it since! The most definitive proof is in the shape of my face. I had chipmunk cheeks; swollen and prominent jowls. Now my face is feminized and in proportion. The difference is remarkable. I will continue with the injections as long as I need to; they have COMPLETELY changed the quality of my life. If you have TMJD just call these guys and ask your questions. They are so kind and supportive.
